Starsnappers is an educational arts company offering different projects for children and schools, mostly based around photography but some projects are multimedia.
The main Starsnappers project, the Portrait Workshops in Primary Schools involves the children using a professional camera and studio to take portraits of each other. It has been going for 12 years and has now been delivered to over 250,000 children and over 800 primary schools throughout the UK.
All our activities are offered to schools at no charge because we are supported by grants, donations, sponsorship, photo sales and an extensive programme of volunteers and work experience students.
The success of the Portrait Workshops has allowed the company to launch a number of new projects (eg. STV and iSnap) with a range of exciting opportunities.
All our activities aim to stimulate creativity but also to broaden the children’s experience of professional equipment, IT and digital media.
The children can be involved in producing photographic prints, photo books, exhibitions and magazine articles and filmed celebrity interviews.
